Your favourite saree and jewellery
I have many favourite sarees, but my wedding saree is my favourite. It’s a bright yellow-orange pattu saree, I love the colour and obviously, it has a sentimental attachment, too. And no matter how many times I repeat it, it looks just as lovely, and everyone comments on it! As for jewellery, I’ve always loved finger rings, so my ring collection is probably my favourite.

A piece of jewellery that you hold close
I have these traditional gold jhumkas that my mom wore during her childhood. They are neither too small nor too big, so it’s perfect for everyday wear. And I love the design because it’s so simple and traditional unlike the heavier pieces you get these days

The last piece of jewellery you purchased…
The last few pieces were all gifted! So I’m looking forward to buying something special for myself now.
Never leave your home without… I can’t leave home without earrings. Every outfit of mine needs long earrings!

Plans for Akshaya Tritiya
I’m looking to buy some classic and timeless pieces this year. I buy necklaces or earrings, but this time I’m looking to buy gold bangles or bracelets that can be worn for multiple occasions.

Pragna Surapaneni

For dermatologist Dr Pragna Surapaneni, the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya brings prosperity. The young doctor, who will soon start practising at Pragna Skin and laser centre, went to the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, where she graduated with the distinguished college blues blazer. Trained in Kuchipudi from an early age, she performed in various shows in India and abroad. For Pragna, life is all about finding a balance between the things you love — your family and friends, your interests and your work.

A piece of jewellery that you hold close
My favourite piece of jewellery is a temple jewellery set that goes with almost anything! I also love the mango mala, which was gifted to me by my grandmother.

Never leave your home without…
I never leave the house without my simple solitaire earrings. My parents got them for my birthday years ago, and they’ve been very dear to me ever since.

A recent piece you purchased…
The last piece of jewellery I bought is a Victorian pearl necklace with an emerald pendant.

Plans for Akshaya Tritiya
Clothes and accessories have replaced the regular buying of gold on Akshaya Tritiya this year. And this kind of summer shopping is compulsory for girls, we just need any reason, but the auspicious day is the perfect excuse to go bling shopping. This year, I’ve ordered a sapphire ring, which also happens to be my birthstone. I want to buy more pieces that I can wear easily every day.

Bobby Kandhari

For personal stylist, etiquette and grooming consultant Bobby Kandhari, Akshaya Tritiya is an auspicious day. Even though it is not a festival that she particularly celebrated before her wedding, she’s aware of its importance. Bobby, who also hosts and curates luxury events in Hyderabad and other select cities, loves experimenting in the kitchen with her two young sons or pottering about the garden with her two adorable dogs. The entrepreneur believes that style is not limited to clothes and jewellery, it’s in everything she wears and everything she does! The already gorgeous Bobby looked absolutely amazing in an Anand Kabra saree and beautiful draped stole paired it with uncut diamond jewellery from Jaipur.

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and I’m no different! My favourite piece of jewellery is a ruby and diamond necklace that my husband had gifted me, it holds a special place in my heart!

Your favourite jewellery
Growing up every little girl is bedazzled by the jewels her mother wears and someday wants to shine in them too! So when my mom gave me the necklace that she wore on her wedding day, my excitement knew no bounds! It truly is an heirloom I shall always cherish.

Never leave your home without…
I’m extremely sentimental and slightly superstitious about a diamond ring that I always wear.

Plans for Akshaya Tritiya
I’m originally from Bombay and never really knew the significance of Akshaya Tritiya till I moved to Hyderabad. But now after being here for so many years I too have realised that buying gold on this day is considered extremely auspicious and a harbinger of good fortune and prosperity. Having said that, this year I’ve decided to refrain from buying anything.

Ruchita Soni

Following tradition, spending time with family, and sharing happiness is how Ruchita Soni likes to spend her Akshaya Tritiya. Founder of a dry fruits and gifting store, Healthy Bites, Ruchita is a fun-loving, ambitious yet affectionate, honest, passionate person, who loves her family and close friends more than words can ever express. Here’s what Ruchita is planning to buy on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya!

A piece of jewellery that you hold close
I treasure my mother’s uncut jewellery set. I genuinely don’t mind wearing it and repeating it every day, it’s sentimental, gives a royal touch, and I would always cherish having it.

Your favourite jewellery
I would love to wear my solitaires as they are elegant and stylish.

Never leave your home without…
I would always wear my diamond solitaires and a couple of rings, which I’m fond of.

A recent piece you purchased…
The last piece of jewellery I bought was uncut jewellery set from Shalini Modani.

Plans for Akshaya Tritiya
Anything done on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya will be multiplied, amplified and magnified manifold. Most Indians buy gold, get married and begin new ventures on this day. I’m, too, planning to buy Victoria’s jewellery, which is studded with diamonds and stone metals.
