Ban vs IND: Ishan Kishan creates history, becomes fastest batter to score double ton in ODIs

New Delhi,

Indian batter Ishan Kishan on Saturday (December 10) created history as he became the fourth Indian and seventh batter overall to score a double century in ODI matches. The 24-year-old left-handed wicketkeeper-batter was included in the playing XI for the third ODI against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram as a replacement for injured skipper Rohit Sharma, and he made the most of it by scoring a double hundred.

With his historic performance, he joined Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma (three times), Chris Gayle of the West Indies, Martin Guptill of New Zealand, and Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman in the elite list of batters who have a double century to their name in ODIs.

The Mumbai Indian wicketkeeper batter completed his double century in just 126 balls with the help of 23 fours and 9 sixes. He completed his first hundred runs in just 85 balls and then took 18 balls to reach 150 and 23 more to reach 200. Ishan broke Gayle’s record for the fastest double century in ODI history. Gayle took 138 balls to reach the milestone against Zimbabwe during the 2015 ODI World Cup.
