मनोरंजन : Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Update – Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited film has created history on its opening day. Despite slow advance booking, the film registered a thunderous start at the box office collection and even broke records of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan on BookMyShow ticket sale.
Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Update: Slow Advance Booking, But Big Box Office Opening
Till Wednesday evening, the Hindi version of Kantara Chapter 1 had sold only around 75,000 tickets in national multiplex chains. Trade experts estimated its Day 1 box office collection between ₹12-15 crore.
But positive reviews and strong word-of-mouth from Thursday morning changed the game. The film ended up collecting nearly ₹20 crore in Hindi version alone, much higher than expectations.
Kantara Chapter 1 First Day Collection Across Languages
- Hindi: ₹20 crore net
- Kannada (original version): ₹18 crore
- Telugu version: ₹12.5 crore (despite late booking start)
- Tamil & Malayalam versions: around ₹5 crore
Overall, the “Kantara Chapter 1 India Net Collection” on Day 1 touched ₹60 crore, while the “India Gross Collection” was nearly ₹75 crore.
Worldwide Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection
Released across 30 countries, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 worldwide box office collection crossed ₹100 crore on its opening day itself. Overseas markets added over ₹20 crore to the gross numbers.
This makes it the third biggest Indian movie opening of 2025 after Pawan Kalyan’s OG (₹154 crore worldwide opening) and Rajinikanth’s Coolie (₹153 crore worldwide opening). With ₹100 crore gross, Kantara Chapter 1 has beaten Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer War 2 (₹84.60 crore opening).
Kantara Chapter 1 Breaks Ticket Sale Records on BookMyShow
The movie not only impressed at the box office but also created records in online ticket sales:
On release day, Kantara Chapter 1 sold 1.28 million tickets on BookMyShow, surpassing Jawan (1.14 million). It now stands behind only Pushpa 2 (1.75 million tickets) in release-day sales. In the “tickets sold in one hour” record, Rishab Shetty’s film achieved 87,900 tickets, overtaking Jawan’s 86,000 tickets per hour.
Bollywood vs South Indian Cinema: Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Impact
With this opening, Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection has proved again that South Indian movies are dominating Indian cinema in 2025. Out of the Top 3 openings of the year, all belong to South films – OG, Coolie, and now Kantara Chapter 1.
