IndVsAus U19 World Cup: India beat Australia by 96 runs to reach fourth consecutive final

New Delhi,

That’s it! India have done it. They beat Australia convincingly by 96 runs in the semis to enter their 8th U19 World Cup final. A run out and it’s a wrap up of the Australia innings. What an emphatic win for India. Yash Dhull and co. have completely outplayed the Aussies in this clash of two heavyweights. Dhull led the team from the front, scoring a scintillating 110. His deputy Shaik Rasheed also played a sublime 94-run knock as India posted 290 for five after opting to bat first. The India spinners then spun the web around the Aussie batters as the Cooper Connolly an co. looked absolutely clueless in the steep chase. Australia eventually bundle out for 194. So, it’s India vs England in the final now! They now clash for the the title at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on February 5.

India will play their fourth consecutive U19 World Cup final when they take on England on Saturday. That should be a cracking contest on the cards as the Boys in Blue set their sights on a record fifth title after missing out on it in 2020.

Yash Dhull, India captain: The plan from me and Rasheed was to bat till the end, and it worked. It’s a proud moment (to be the third Indian captain to score a U19 WC ton after Virat Kohli and Unmukt Chand). The idea was to bat steadily, not to try too many shots, and to bat past the 40th over

Cooper Connolly, Australia captain: Going into the last ten, we thought we were in a good position, but they scored 100 and thus 290 was a bridge too far. The experience was good but the only problem was the bubble. The way we played spin was good and we just got better with every session
